My first job ever was picking cucumbers on a farm (year 2000)

Imagine 12 people laying down on a huge mattress that was pulled along by a big tractor. As we laid there, we picked cucumbers off the ground and tossed them onto a conveyor belt as the tractor slowly crossed expansive fields; over and over again.

That’s was the job. Ouch.

True story...I had to wear gloves and cover my arms because I had bad allergies to the cucumber plant.

This job was like getting smacked in the face everyday, but I learned two valuable lessons which paid off over my life

1) I will not do this forever!
2) There must be a better way to make money!

Then a light bulb went off: If I get a college education, then I can get a high paying job and ESCAPE the rat race!

So I went to college for Computer Engineering (starting salary $70,000)

After 4 years of higher education, I finished the Computer Engineering Degree. But something was really bothering me. Being a computer programmer was a high paying job, but I didn’t find any meaning in it…..What could possibly be wrong with doing something you hate for a lot of money? You still hate it!

I felt tricked by the "story" I was being told: get a high paying job, make lots of money and you will be happy....FALSE

And so I made one of the most difficult decisions of my life: leave engineering and pursue my passion in music

So I went back to college, spent more money, and graduated as a certified music teacher

Finally, I had found meaningful work: teaching music!

But there was still a problem...even though I was working in music, I was still getting burnt out working from 7:30am-4:00pm. Actually, the first year I remember staying at the school until 8 or 9 pm to prepare for the next day. 

Then I came across a book by the American businessman Robert Kiyosaki…

He explained that the rich are getting richer because they are NOT employees...In other words, the rich don’t trade their time for money but create businesses that put money in their pockets automatically. They create passive income streams, like digital products or real estate, that work for them whether or not they are working.

The answer was finally within reach: I had to work in my passion AND build passive income streams so I could work less
